　　讲述了一个童话般的故事，邪恶而贪婪的银行家收到名为“犹德士”的复仇者的来信，如果他再不改邪归正，第二天的午夜十二点他将得到死亡的惩罚。预言果然应验（犹德士以带着巨大鸟头的魔术师形象现身，像死神一样翩翩而至），银行家暴毙在舞会上留下了他无助的女儿。女儿散尽家产为父亲赎罪，没想到因此使犹德士宽恕了父亲的罪行。
　　
　　乔治·弗朗叙作为1936年成立的法国电影资料馆创立者之一，将他的毕生精力投入到电影资料收集保护的工作中。可以说《犹德士》就是一部向电影之父路易·费雅德致敬的影片，后者在1916年导演了第一版《犹德士》。在借鉴费雅德版本的基础上，弗朗叙既保留了原作探险的故事情节，又加入了自由的基调。影片自始至终充满了讽刺的意味。
